ECOPLANET BAMBOO PHILIPPINES
EcoPlanet Bamboo is undertaking the forest landscape restoration of 8,360 hectares of degraded montane lands in the province of Lanao del Sur, on the island of Mindanao.
This nature based solutions project combines the planting of 2.5 million clumps of native giant bamboo, Dendrocalamus asper, with an additional 1 million native tree species, and the protection and conservation of an additional 500 hectares of remaining forest patches. In addition it serves as a physical buffer to some of Mindanao's last remaining primary forests.
EcoPlanet Bamboo is the only entity globally to have delivered fully verified carbon offsets from bamboo under the Voluntary Carbon Standard. Developed under rigid frameworks, the Lanao del Sur Reforestation Project is removing more than 4 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere and storing these in a permanent ecological carbon sink.
EcoPlanet Bamboo Group is the largest owner and operator of sustainable bamboo plantations globally with additional operations in Nicaragua, South Africa, Ghana and Rwanda.
